A short story on Investment Banking(IB) in Real Estate Finance

When it comes to real estate investment banking in the early 2000s,  there were few people working on it in securities companies. I, comparatively the one of first-movers, issued an ABS to invest a real estate development project which was a main financing product in that time.

Since then, the hotter the real estate market got, the more people participated in securities companies.

Besides issuing structured products or providing liquidity, bigger securities companies whose financial status are stable are expected to play a various role in real estate financing : underwriting of fund when purchasing a property, contribution, debt transition etc.
